Heroin is dangerous, especially in a teenager's grasp.
Director of Sonoran Hospital John Leggio says he's noticed an increase in teen heroin users in the last few years.
He works with teenage addicts from schools around Tucson.
He feels more and more teenagers begin their addiction with alcohol and marijuana.
Many teen addicts move on to narcotics that are easily available.
“We're seeing abuse of drugs like Vicodin, Percacet, Percodans and Oxycontin,” says Leggio.
Leggio feels the best treatment for teenage addicts is a detoxification process followed by months of treatments.
New narcotic treatments without the addiction are also helping teen addicts break their addictions.
