LAKE CITY - Even as Anderson County deputies searched a Lake City man's home for narcotics Tuesday afternoon, prospective customers wanting to buy pain pills continued to call and drive up, Sheriff Bill White said.
Three of those would-be OxyContin buyers drove up to Rodger D. Duncan's home with small children strapped in car seats, White said.
Information about those suspects was relayed to the Department of Children's Services, the sheriff said in a news release.
Deputies quickly arranged an impromptu bogus deal to deliver the powerful pain pills to one customer who called in her request during Tuesday's drug raid of Duncan's home.
Busted when she arrived at the agreed-upon sales site was Melinda Sherrod, 46, of Oak Ridge, who was charged with possession of controlled drugs.
Two of her cars were seized, and she may face other charges, the sheriff said in the news release. Sherrod was released from jail on $75,000 bond.
Authorities had been focusing on Duncan's residence after an earlier raid there in September, the sheriff said.
The results of Tuesday's search warrant execution, along with evidence from the September raid, will likely be taken to the Anderson County grand jury soon for possible indictments, White said.
