Insurgents Torch Iraq’s Main Oil Pipeline…“The Damage Is 100 ......

Submitted by admin on Thu, 2005-10-20 23:52.

Iraq on Thursday, officials said. Violence continued around the country, and the U.S. military said three soldiers were killed by a roadside bomb the previous day.

The pipeline links an oil field in the northern city of Kirkuk to Iraq's largest oil refinery in Beiji, 155 miles north of Baghdad.

-- Saddam Hussein would still be in power, but he would be in a box, monitored 24/7 and impotent.

-- Iraq would still be a healthy, functioning nation instead of a pile of rubble.

-- Tens of thousands of Iraqis -- children, women and men -- would still be alive.

-- More than 2,000 coalition troops would still be alive. More than 15,000 would not be maimed, crippled or otherwise wounded.

-- Iraq would not be a hot bed for al Queda and thousands of other terrorists.

Now the Bushies apparently intend to expand the war into Syria and Iran. Where will it end?

Wow...what a great country! This is democracy at its best!

Wow...what a great country! This is democracy at its best!

And the rightwingchickenuts will still be glued to rush, hannity,o'loofa telling them what a great country this is and that everything is the libs fault. Enjoy your macaroni and cheese trolls.

More troops are going to be necessary, at a time when the US wants to cut back. This mission is far from being accomplished. If these mishaps, were not taken into consideration, they better revise their military planning to accommodate them now.

What kind of planning has this military in the first place, it seems to be that this is the most poorly planned for war in modern history. Strategically and tactically. Isn't it time that a military round table was created, bringing in all of the former Generals, to beat the beast in the best way possible, it seems those in charge right now, have no idea what they are doing.

If the US is relying on Iraq's oil, as it appears to be, then they had better make sure that the terrorists are kept away. When I think of how the United States is protecting the Mexican border, it doesn't give one very much in the way of confidence that they will be able to take care of the problem. If this were a football game, the insurgence, would right now be a field goal up on the army.

George W. Bush had a perfectly laid out Roadmap to Peace in the Middle East. The Libs destroyed it. Instead of Iraq becoming another prosperous community in the Middle East, its turned into a Liberal Hate Fest.

I feel sorry for Mr. Bush. It would be a real shame if he turned to the bottle again because of the stress caused by the Libs. Please turn your Dark Hearts into Christian ones. God loves you and so does Mr. Bush. Support President Bush as he moves on to Iran and Syria. Because of you Libs, Bush has lost Iraq. If you don't cease with your hatred, Bush will lose Iran & Syria as well. All because of your loathing for this great man.

You mean like the one Bush is trying to kill in Venezuela?

Liberals instead of looking at the article and seeing it for what it is you point the finger at President Bush. How about you look at what happened and say that the insurgents/terrorists do not want Iraq to become a stable country.

Oh, but macaroni and cheese is fine dining. You can either have the macaroni or the cheese...but not both. The Republicans wouldn't want the masses to have too much control over their daily activities. And while I'm at China-Mart, I'm going to spend an extra nickel and buy some "Flip-Flopper" Flipflops, the new Republican shoes that allow me to be on any side of an issue at anytime. I understand they're all the rage with the oxycontin crowd! They go so well with the "Club Gitmo" tee-shirts. It's all about fashion, anyway. They would never want to be confused with blurring an issue for popularity's sake.

It looks to me as though what was disclosed about the Oil Cartel is correct. Those hearings in Congress back in the 70's tell it like it is.

These things hurt the oil companies so much - with this latest incident, they might not even clear 5 billion profit for this quarter! How will the CEOs pay for their new jets, yachts, and vacation homes!?!?!?

Bravo Vic, Bravo!! On September 11, 2001, the world, as we know it, changed forever. President Bush set out to right a wrong. He had the guts to do what no other man in history has: change the Middle East for the better and rid the world of terrorism. A very bold and very heroic venture. We lost Vietnam because of the f'ing Liberals, and now they're bound & determined to turn Iraq into another shameful lose for this great nation.

What makes Liberals so damned unpatriotic? Why do they insist on undermining all the great things President Bush is trying to accomplish? You'd think they'd be more than happy that Bush is working to save their ass from another 9-11.

I just don't get it. Why the whole lot of 'em just don't move to France, is beyond me.

"If Liberals would only support the war and our troops, none of this would be happening. "

The soup I was eating for lunch almost came out of my nose. One, to think that what we say on CNN has any effect on the Moral of Iraqis is ludicrous -- because most of them didn't have electricity, much less care to watch our news.

Maybe the locals were effected by a torn up infrastructure. Idiot Bush cronies who couldn't manage a five and dime tasked with rebuilding a country. A disbanded military and high unemployment -- heck, that recipe could create an insurgency in Mississippi.

Yes, I'm sure that if we had all hummed the same tune and gotten rid of every last liberal, NeoCon government policies could work. But with 99% of the population of earth gone, who would pick the coffee beans for Star Bucks?

In your world view, there must be a lot of contortions in logic that absolve Bush of responsibility. Or were you making a parody -- which is really unfair, because I can't tell the difference.

1. It proves beyond refutation that the war is not going well if the US cannot secure the Iraqui infra-structure, especially its single most precious asset, the oil fields.

2. Isn't oil after all one of the unspoken reasons why we are there? And don't the insurgents know that?

And this is one day after Condi's "all is going well" assessment to Congress.

Yeh, no kidding. I'm trying to figure out if Beezlebul is a joke, or if he's actually joking.

I hope our fearless Congressional leaders are ready to borrow more money to pay Halliburton. George and crew will be crying again that this event wasn't included in the Halliburton contract budget.

Yeh, no kidding. I'm trying to figure out if Beezlebul is a joke, or if he's actually joking.

Beezlebul and MinneapolisMike are the kings of sarcasm/satire. Took me a bit to figure it out but trust me......

He really is all we've got. Impeachment is useless, we don't have the supreme court, and there isn't anything else that doesn't have a Bush loyalist in control.

I hope that he has the best security -- if we lose Fitzgerald, we could lose our country to Fascism. I don't think there is another situation I've seen where so much has ridden on the shoulders of one citizen.

I expect Little George to wake up one morning and think "syria, we can pull this off", then immediately summon rummy and condi and say 'make it happen". Documents will be found showing that syria plans to nuke the united states and a pre-emptive strike will be deemed necessary. Our last ally, Aruba, will promise 40 troops. And the rest shall be history.

My one last comment here is that Beezlebul ought to stop doing so much satire if that is what he is doing. It is impossible to tell the difference -- and it is not anything I approve of. People should be represented by their own views. I no more want Libs posing as wolves than I want the bad guys wearing the white hats. It clouds the issue.

There may come a time when this battle is no longer fought with words. You acting like an AssHat is going to piss off people just as much as if you were an AssHat. Which seems to be the common theme of the NeoCon trolls who lurk here.

The only thing that annoys me more is the Phony Liberals. I would like to get back to rational, thoughtful discussions.

Obviously we can't protect the pipelines. Obviously we're not protecting anything or anybody consistently. Obviously there's no plan to get out. We're just bumbling around over there, and now rattling Syria, with which there's never been any love lost.

If we packed up and left today, we and they'd be in no better shape than if we stayed another year. We need to leave, and let the Iraqis work out their own problems, and pray we'll be forgiven for this trumpted up war.

It's time the US faced and fixed its' own internal problems, and gave up dabbling in other countries' business.

It's quite the opposite conused, we need to quadruple the amount of troops over there.

Why haven't we assumed full control over this country with such a mass of soldiers, that an insurgent couldn't spit without having an American gun drawn on him.

The Iraqi people need security. Military security. And until thier country has its own security forces then we should be responsible for maintaining order over there with extreme predjudice.

And you know what? I am against this war. I believe we were lied to about it. I also believe we did a shitty job at securing the damn country and the problems we have are a direct result of that arrogance.

We should have so many soldiers over there that they could link arms and form an unbroken chain around the borders of Iraq.

This not even half-assed attempt at freeing thses people is a disgrace and I for one am disgusted with the commander in chief.

Israel must be protected so Jesus will come back soon.

Too bad young, poor Americans have to die for my beliefs.

--Only dubya can save America from terrorism (sure....that's why iraq is a terrorist breeding ground, and the invasion and occupation has played into bin Laden's hands and increased muslim hatred of the US).

Enough for now...you get the picture. Mull that over...

If the USA does not believe that people are built that way, well they are in for a long hard time.
