The Dr. Sean Buckingham trial has been postponed after four jury members and two alternates were excused from duty in Newfoundland and Labrador Supreme Court Thursday morning.
Justice James Adams excused the jurors at their request, for reasons varying from exceptional work commitments to personal health matters.
With only eight jury members left, Adams was forced to delay proceedings until Tuesday morning.
At that time a line-up of new prospective jurors will be brought in for selection to fill the four vacant seats.
In addition to the jury matter, one of the prosecutors also asked for time to attend the funeral of a family member.
Buckingham faces 23 charges, including sexual assault, drug trafficking and possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.
