POLICE BRIEFS: Sheriff’s Deputies Arrest Carthage Man on Drug ......

Cocaine Charge: Sheriff's deputies arrested a Vass man Oct. 12 and charged him with possession of cocaine.

Blake Cordan Pressley, 21, was jailed with a $1,500 bond. His first court hearing is set for Nov. 2.

Attempted Fraud: Aberdeen police arrested a Candor man who they believe was trying to use a false Social Security card to obtain a North Carolina driver's license.

Officers charged Simeon Sanchez Flores, 33, with attempting to obtain property by false pretense. He was released with a $3,000 unsecured bond.

Robbery: Carthage police arrested a 46-year-old man Oct. 9 and charged him with stealing $2,100 from a woman.

Offices charged Anthony Ray Flowers, of Carthage, with common law robbery. He was jailed with a $20,000 bond.

Fraud: Sheriff's deputies arrested a 32-year-old Jackson Springs woman Oct. 18 and charged her with forging a check.

Deputies arrested Christy Faye Moore and charged her with forgery and uttering. She signed a written promise to appear in court Thursday.

Sheriff's deputies arrested Robert Nathaniel Diggs, of West End, on four counts of fraud perpetrated during the month of May.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Diggs, 38, passed stolen checks at several businesses.

Deputies charged him with four counts of obtaining property by false pretenses. He was jailed with a $5,000 bond. His first court hearing is scheduled for Thursday.

False Report: Southern Pines police arrested a 21-year-old woman who they believe filed a false report of a stolen vehicle.

Southern Pines resident Aisha Kareemah Cooper signed a written promise to appear in court on Nov. 17.

Break-In: On Oct. 6, Pizza Cafe in Seven Lakes reported that someone broke into the business and stole beer, a cart and a safe.

Five days later, sheriff's deputies arrested William Benton Hodges and charged him with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny, felony possession of stolen property, damage to property and obstructing and delaying an officer.

He was jailed with a $25,000 bond. His first court hearing is scheduled for Thursday. Deputies say the investigation is continuing.

Cocaine Charge: Sheriff's deputies arrested Robbins woman Oct. 7 and charged her with possession of cocaine.

Phyllis Diane Murchison, 49, signed a written promise to appear in court Thursday.

Found Property: Pinehurst police officers found property that they believe was either stolen, then abandoned, or lost.

Officers found bicycles, a car rim, a come-a-long, a mail box with a post, a Motorola radio, a small cloth purse, an alligator-skin purse and an Igloo brand nylon cooler.

“Any persons who may have claim or interest to pursue a claim of these items should contact the police department within 30 days,” said Detective Daryl Bender of the Pinehurst Police Department.

After 30 days, the items will be donated, sold or disposed of, according to the law.

Attempted Prescription Drug Fraud: Aberdeen police arrested an Apex man Oct. 5 and charged him with trying to use a forged prescription to obtain OxyContin at the Wal-Mart pharmacy.

Jason Robert Keveryn, 29, was released with a $5,000 unsecured bond. His first court hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.

Break-In: Sheriff's deputies arrested a Sanford man Oct. 6 and charged him with a September break-in at a home on Stanton Hill Road.

Elizabeth Marks reported a break-in Sept. 12. She said jewelry and other items were taken.

Deputies charged Ruben Z. Juarez, 33, with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny and felony possession of stolen goods.

He was jailed with a $15,000 bond, and his first court appearance is set for Nov. 17.

Fraud: Sheriff's deputies received a complaint Oct. 7 from Pizza Cafe in Seven Lakes that checks from a closed account were passed Sept. 4.

On Oct. 11, deputies arrested Kimberly Dawn Teeter, 38, of Seven Lakes. They charged her with two counts of felony obtaining property by false pretenses.

She was released on a $1,000 unsecured bond. Her first court hearing is scheduled for Thursday.

Drug Charges: Carthage police arrested a Fayetteville man Oct. 11 and charged him with possession of cocaine, marijuana and having an open container.

Joseph Rudolph Whittington, 30, is charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, felony possession of cocaine, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, maintaining a vehicle to keep a controlled substance and open container.

He was released with a $10,000 unsecured bond. His first court hearing is scheduled for Thursday.
